Manufacturing Sector

Manufacturing is a key enabler under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), positioned to drive industrialization, create jobs, and enhance Kenya’s global competitiveness. The Government is focusing on revitalizing the sector by promoting value addition in priority value chains such as textiles and apparel, leather, agro-processing, construction materials, and pharmaceuticals. Through targeted incentives, public–private partnerships, and support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the manufacturing sector is being positioned as a hub for innovation and productivity. Strategic investments in industrial parks, special economic zones, and local sourcing of raw materials are lowering production costs while expanding export opportunities. At the same time, policies that encourage green manufacturing and the adoption of modern technologies are ensuring sustainability and resilience. By strengthening linkages between agriculture, mining, and services, the manufacturing sector under BETA is not only boosting domestic production and reducing imports but also creating dignified jobs for Kenyans and expanding the country’s revenue base.
