The Services Economy

The Services Economy is a critical growth driver under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), contributing significantly to job creation, innovation, and Kenya’s overall GDP. The Government is prioritizing the expansion and modernization of key service sectors such as financial services, trade, transport and logistics, education, healthcare, ICT, and tourism to enhance their competitiveness and inclusivity. By improving ease of doing business, streamlining regulations, and embracing digital platforms, the services economy is being positioned as a catalyst for entrepreneurship and investment. Strategic efforts are also being made to strengthen Kenya’s role as a regional hub for professional, financial, and creative services, while boosting exports in tourism and knowledge-based industries. With a strong emphasis on skills development, digital transformation, and service quality, the services economy under BETA is unlocking opportunities for youth and women, reducing barriers for small enterprises, and driving sustainable economic transformation.
